IMPROVED VEHICLE SECURITY MEANS FEWER CLAIMS
Vehicle crime increases year on year, resulting in hundreds of millions of pounds in insurance payouts. According to the DVLA 48.492 cars were stolen in 2021 – 1,617 more than the previous year. That works out to 133 car thefts every day, or 933 a week. Essentially, that’s a lot of claims having to be met by a lot of insurance companies.
THE BENEFITS OF USING CAR KEYS SOLUTIONS
- Even though vehicle manufacturers have been legally obliged for years now to incorporate a transponder chip in car keys to reduce the chances of the vehicle being stolen, that transponder chip doesn’t offer total protection.
- We can offer that kind of protection. We are a Thatcham Research approved installer of the Ghost II immobiliser which effectively prevents any vehicle from being driven by an unauthorised person. And we are also the preferred contractor for many insurance companies across the UK.
- As well as installing the Ghost II, we can provide replacement car keys and restore vehicle security by disabling the connection between the vehicle and lost or stolen keys.
- Since we provide a mobile auto locksmith service, there’s no need to have a vehicle towed anywhere as we can be there within an hour anywhere in London and the Home Counties.
NOTE: Installation of immobiliser systems such as the Ghost II together with alarms and tracking devices has to be done in one of our London and Milton Keynes workshops, as they require a great deal more work.
THE BENEFITS OF INSTALLING AFTERMARKET SECURITY DEVICES
“Aftermarket” means devices installed once the vehicle has left the factory – such as the Ghost II immobiliser, alarms of all kinds, tracking devices and suchlike. All of which add to the security provided by the manufacturer on the factory floor. Third-party companies have been creating and selling security devices that may or may not have been passed by Thatcham Research in any of their eight categories. (The devices we install are all Thatcham-approved. Of course.)
The Autowatch Ghost II Immobiliser is a very small device that connects to the circuitry inside a vehicle and behaves like all the other control units connected by that circuit.
It can be connected anywhere within the vehicle, so car thieves can’t locate it, and since it doesn’t emit radio signals it’s immune to relay attacks.
It prevents ignition until disarmed with a user-defined sequence of controls being operated, like keying in a PIN but instead of numbers those controls could be anything. One sequence could start with the windscreen wiper control, then continue with the vehicle lights … to the radio … to the rear left window control – it could be any sequence the driver desires.
The Ghost II is fitted with its own self-powered high volume klaxon set to go off when the vehicle is interfered with, and also has the facility to send a text message warning the owner that the vehicle is receiving unwelcome attention.
